Centered around words and the power of language, Frindle is the perfect read for young learners beginning their journey with writing and reading. Frindle is a classic classroom read filled with a humorous and a thoughtful message. Nick Allen is a fan of learning and thinking up new ideas. So much so that he decides to create a new word. He doesn’t feel like a pen needs to be called a “pen.” Who decided that anyway? So Nick decides to start calling it a “frindle.” From that point on the word catches fire. Everyone in the school starts using. Then everyone in the town starts using it. Teachers and adults are frustrated that Nick’s idea has created such a change, but they’re about to be even more upset when the whole world catches wind of Nick’s renaming. Focused on the importance of language, “Frindle” is recommended for readers ages eight to twelve, or children reading at a third-to-sixth grade reading level. Vivid and creative illustrations included in this edition will also entertain young readers.
